Looking for a good solemniser in Singapore is akin to watching blockbuster movies that are released during the first week. Back in February, I was researching on the process for getting solemnised outdoors. We have to invite a solemniser to our preferred venue on the day of our solemnisation. Ok, that sounded easy as I went through the whole list of solemnisers from ROM. For the fun of it, I contacted a JP randomly from the list and I was told that it was still early to book him for our ROM. Hmm, fine.
As I read the marriage filing instructions on the ROM website, it seems be it outdoors or indoors, we still need to observe the filing notice of 3 months before our date. It was also recommended that we should look for a solemniser around this period of time. I was dead wrong.
Having a list of recommended solemnisers (after much crawling on google and singaporebrides) I began to contact each of the Justice of Peace (JP). One by one, I was getting rejected and day by day, I started to panic. MC and me thought to ourselves that we were too late in contacting the JPs, hence all the good ones are not available. What the heck.
I supposed I was refused by nearly twenty JPs until Dr William Chung agreed to be our solemniser. It certainly was a relief. As our date is October 30th, we still can’t file for our marriage as of today. I have to advise anyone who plans to get married to be SUPER KIASU, if you want an outdoor ROM with a recommended solemniser. At least try to contact them 6-8 months before your date. I know some brides book 1 year in advance. =\
Learn MoreThis is a long overdue post. Heh.
Couple of weeks ago, the orchid that I’ve cultivated outside my home has finally bloomed! There were 5 pots, but only 1 managed to bloom. The rest are still shy despite new shoots and roots appeared. I guess it’s a big difference when cultivating orchids under the sun vs under a roof.
Speaking which, now I envy my mom who have her own backyard full of bloomed orchirds. =\
Nevertheless, i’m still trying to get my fingers green and i’m still going to continue to cultivate them.
Learn MoreThat’s right. its time to give up this dear hobby (can it even be considered as hobby?) of mine.
take a look at the short list of anime figurines that i have on sale.
thanks for the support and i’ll even appreciate it more if you could spread the news to the people who might want to collect them. =)
Learn MoreI’ve finally gotten myself a dslr. =D the price has always put me off and i wasn’t really sure if i can commit to the hobby when i was younger.
i didn’t get the camera with any kit lens. i knew the lens will definitely not satisfy me in the long run, so i settled for a third-party lens, tamron 17-50mm f2.8. i was skeptical at first, but after a few days of using the camera and the lens, i’m glad i made the right choice.
mc love taking pretty landscapes whenever she goes on a trip. now with a pretty decent camera she’ll be able to capture more beautiful shots! (provided she learns how to use the camera properly) and of course, i can finally try to shoot pretty stuffs whenever i go for a holiday. between now and honeymoon (though still not planned yet) i just hope i can learn more photography knowledge as i foray into this familiar-and-yet-unknown territory.
Learn MoreThe company organised some trip to bintan. we stayed at nirwana gardens, bintan resorts. its one of our clients’ resorts. or should i say ex-client. heh.
to be frank, whoever organised this trip didn’t do a good job. granted we are all busy at work, but certain communications could have been played out smoothly. we didn’t really know what activities to be expected (whether free n easy or company activities) until we reached there. bleah..
also, there wasn’t a proper notice on what time the event will be over. to make things worst, we were given an option to stay overnight. how’s that worst? well, we have over 20 people in the company and it’s a four bedroom villa. we have more girls than guys and they’re occupying the bedrooms. the guys will just have to make do with living room sofas. definitely not my idea of comfortable bedding after a long day.
as some of us couldn’t stay too late, we opted to go home earlier. surprise surprise, we were not allowed. the ferry tickets were already booked (i mean really? without our consent? gee thanks boss.) after a few hustle and tussle, the management finally relented and we could go home earlier! yay!
for me, i don’t really mind staying over, but the way communications were made, it made the whole thing felt insincere and too last-minute. i’m only glad that i get to test out my new dslr that i bought yesterday. (more on this in next update!)
anyway, it’s time to sleep. we’re going in jb for our viewing of the bridal photos! =)
Learn MoreYep, yesterday marked the start of a two-day bridal photoshoot in jb. on the first day, in their indoor studio we had quite an experience and it was totally fun! photographer was witty and the assistant is ever a cool introvert.
for the outdoor, we went to desaru and a couple of spots nearby. think by the beach, in the middle of a lalang field, on the jetty, next to pond kind of scenes. the photographer was kind enough to let us change into our casual wear and continue shooting. of course they would be more than happy to snap more shots. they just can’t wait for us to end up with choosing more shots at the end of the day. heh
albeit tiring from trying out multiple poses, moving around in a wedding dress/coat and maintaining smiles, hopefully the results are rewarding! did i mention the weather in desaru was fantastic? i heard from my parents that in jb town, it was raining heavily. thank God for the fine weather. in this instance i don’t really mind the scorching sun.
