needless to say, reseted the device to factory (they won’t honour the warranty if it’s jailbroken) and brought it to m1 for an exchange.

over at the counter, “hi, my iphone stopped vibrating.” the girl looked at me, trying to resist laughter, took the phone and checked it thoroughly.

within 15 mins, after signing an equipment exchange form, i was issued a new iphone!

thankfully it’s still on the old firmware. now it’s jailbroken again and restoring process are underway.. =D kudos for hassle-free (almost, anyway) no questions asked exchange.

speaking of which, any good snorkelling shops to recommend?

a more interesting note, we didn’t know there was road closure on bras basah road until we got closer. traffic jam were everywhere and we thought we were gonna be late. with no idea how to travel to esplanade (basically the entire area around padang, esplanade areas were cordoned off with safety barriers) we stared at the map, took a big turn around victoria st to ophir road, we somehow landed on raffles ave and esplanade were just straight ahead. lucky, but guess what. the area was closed and army officers were standing around directing traffic.

we stopped to ask one of them that we are in a hurry for a show. thank god he shoved aside the barricade and let us through. all the other cars were watching us in envy, probably thinking, “how on earth did that car get inside?” we reached the car park finally and rushed to the theatre. usher told us the event was delayed due to the road closure outside. we were just in time. seriously, we really got lucky. =D

apart from the rare movie treat, i can’t believe i didn’t catch a single world cup match live. i missed the finals, my eyes couldn’t keep up. anyway, spain do seem to be the stronger team, based on gut feel anyway.

so there i was, all ready and packed to go to work. it was already pouring when i left the house, only to find it getting heavier as i entered sle/cte. vehicles were moving very slowly, snail’s pace as you might have described it.

initially there were plenty of traffic on both directions, each side moving ever slowly. i was travelling south until after 1 or 2 lighting striked possibly about half a km away. not long later i realised there were lesser vehicles travelling north. class 95 kept reporting on water ponding and glenn were digging at the word ponding and how it sounded “stupid”. lol.

shortly just after passing amk first exit i saw a huge tree collapsed in the next lane. the entire road was closed off! when i passed by the tree, i turned over, there were about 4-5 cars affected. super long trail of vehicles stranded were not able to move at all. i truly pity those affected by this aftermath and hopefully their insurance can help them out.

with iphone4 coming out very soon, iphone 3gs users like me can still enjoy some features from the new iphone operating system. while other smartphones out there are able to enjoy 3g video calls, surprisingly iphone made a late entry into the video call scene. only the new iphone4 has a front camera and video calls are made possible with facetime, possibly one of the new apps that will come together with the iphone4.

on a separate note, apologies for the lack of blog entries. in the midst of planning something big that will change my life forever. will still try to update whenever possible; and i can’t believe it, i haven’t watched a single world cup match till now.

i couldn’t believe my eyes either, but after seeing posts on hwz and straitstimes i can’t help but wonder what happens to the underpass? flood as well? or only on the roads..
