4 voi! iphone casing review

pardon me but this is gonna be a long post.
sometime back, i ordered 2 iphone casings from 4voi.com and the package arrived yesterday! changed to the new casing immediately as my previous one was already loose.

at a glance, the product is nicely packaged, comes with a lanyard and there’s 4 colours to choose from. i bought 2 colours, (obsidian black and fireside red) to mix and match.

to my delight, upon tearing off the sealed envelope i saw 3 casing inside! for a moment i thought i had ordered an extra one, but after some “careful” rummaging, there was a note stating that the extra casing (phantom mist white) is complimentary, along with 2 screen protectors and 2 cleaning cloth. wow!

the case itself feels solid with the axent ring snap-on and yet it doesn’t scratch the iphone. meticulous thoughts were spent on the product design to protect the casing’s lcd as well as the lanyard attached just in case the iphone slips away from your hands. if you like, you can remove the lanyard too. inside the case, there’s a piece of velvet cloth that protects the iphone from scratching against the case itself. this is something that i had never seen on majority of the hardshell casing out there. the overall design of the case fits the phone tightly in an elegant manner. the simplicity of the case brings out the flavour of the iphone even more.

with these fine features at US$25 per piece, it’s already a steal! mine came with screen protectors and mind you, they are not the usual piece of plastic out there in the market. it’s matte surface and significantly reduced the glare on the iphone. the texture on the screen protector gives a different feel and doesn’t attract fingerprints compared to the other ones i’ve tried.

i dun do product reviews but the people at encipient, llc are so kind to give me a free case that i find it hard not to help them spread the word a bit. as far as i know, this casing is not available locally here in singapore, so the only way to obtain the product is via online thru their website.

mat road bullies

encountered a road bully just within 5 minutes after entering into jb. we were queuing up slowly due to the traffic light turning red and all of a sudden a freaking car came out of nowhere and trying to cut in front of me from my right hand side.

he was very close to our car, probably some 1-2cm away and continuing to revving the engine hard as though getting ready to move as soon as the light turns green. as i was shocked from his unexpected appearance and sticking very close to our right side, i flashed my high beam, indicating my presence.

lol, what happened next was kinda drama. the light turns green, he moved in front of me and braked hard, but still revving his engine hard. luckily i wasn’t stepping on gas and just moving slowly. so i stopped. seeing that i stopped, he moved a little in front and i followed. then he jammed brake again. this time wound down the windscreen and lifted his hands out. we went, “huh, what’s that? he’s a crazy one, let’s ignore him and move slowly.”

it went on for another few times when eventually we came to a junction. i needed to turn right but i made my car looked like wanting to turn left. being in front of me, that car went ahead turning left and tried to jam brake again, but of course, i had steered to the right the very moment he turned left. as we cruised past him, he wound down the windscreen again and showed his hands. only this time we can see that he’s showing us his middle finger. lol.

all i can say is, there are suckers who think they can bully singaporean-plate cars. bet he doesn’t even know i’m holding the same IC colour as he does. lol.

new tablet

the 5 years old wacom graphire 3 tablet in office jus went kaput, and i had the honour of getting another one. head to funan during lunch time and bought a wacom bamboo tablet @ $174.

it’s sleek, very professional looking and surprisingly very easy to use. the tablet itself has several functions, 4 customisable buttons to launch your fav apps or perform keystrokes/clicks etc, a widescreen area for widescreen monitors (seriously who still uses good old 4:3 crt monitors?) that accepts pen input as well as finger touch! how cool is that?! similar to iphone-like touch gestures, you can click, drag, rotate, scale, move forward-back, pinch-zoom practically anywhere in windows!

the other accessory that came with it is the pen. compared to the graphire pen which is super light and easily flung around if you like to fiddle with pens; the bamboo pen feels like a real pen. solid feel, good grip and again it has 2 buttons customisable to do whatever you want and an eraser end. functionality is the same with graphire pens, except that the nibs can be changed if spoilt.

damn, i feel like getting one for my home desktop as well!

first servicing

just went for the first servicing at my dad’s friend’s workshop in jb. didn’t buy any engine oil in advance, so i used their preferred brand, liqui moly. the owner is a bmw fanatic, so his workshops mainly services bmws from both sg and my. liqui moly is a german brand and kinda “unknown” to most people here, but i think it’s starting to gain acceptance. previously, i’ve seen people using it for their proton!

mechanic quickly took out the oil filter and drained the oil out. after that, plugged in a new one, and filled in with the new oil. the process was done fairly quickly – say less then 30 mins?

i’m still observing the new engine oil, but after changing to the new oil, pickup does seem better. after changing the oil, travelled for another 30+km, picking up mc and went for a hair cut. along the north-south highway, car seems smoother as well.
