the last day of 2009! amazing how time jus whizz by and it still seems as if i’ve just stepped into 2009.

once this day passes, it’s gone forever! well, no point harping over it, but let’s welcome 2010!
wishing everyone safe and healthy especially in this era of influenza outbreak everywhere. more good times ahead and best of luck in all your future endeavours!

in meantime, check out what i’ve received from amazon japan this year. initially ordered the transformers: revenge of the fallen bluray from amazon japan that bundles with an exclusive black optimus prime. a week later, received another package that contains the chromed version of optimus from the movie! how cool is that? =D

christmas celebration @ woodlands’ clubhouse

December 20th, 2009 konstrain No comments

all thanks to greg and gin, they organised this year’s christmas with a bang, literally.

first activity of the day, paintball @ red dynasty, khatib!

started the activity in the rain, though not heavy, it was enough to drag us down in the game. briefing of the games and division of teams took a bit longer than expected, but thankfully the game masters were keeping us entertained with their safety tips and do’s and don’ts. there were 12 of us, hence we were divided into 3 teams of 4; team A, B and C. i was lucky enough to be in the team A, together with eugene, law and his gf. the paint-balls were enough to last us 2 rounds each. and first match up, A vs B.

due to the weather, we were forewarned that our goggles would quickly fog up in the game and we would need to hurry up and get into position immediately after putting on the mask. true enough, within minutes into the match, i could barely see 3 metres in front of me, let alone identify my target nor where my paint-balls were flying. grounds were muddy and pools of water abound. the objective was to gather 2 objects back into the base; a flag and brick-life styrofoam. the game ends with team A winning 2 games, team B 1 game and team C nil.

next activity at woodland’s clubhouse! wii party games and board games followed by x’mas buffet dinner, gift exchange and log cake savouring. the rest of the gang went ahead while i went back home to pick up mc. when we reached greg’s place, the guys were already playing rockband. some were chilling out and some were chatting. we headed straight for some bridge, as tutored by greg himself. was my first time trying out bridge and i thought it’s kinda challenging. soon after, it’s dinner time!

after the delicious dinner, all 16 of us jumped into cranium! it’s a first for me, so it was an eye opener! brilliantly designed board game that can easily fit 16 players at 1 go! leafie took some pics, so i shall post some here.

failed components = new toy

GX260XADJNBothBATMAN354x312what’s up with failing components especially graphics cards?

on friday, initially my hard disk enclosure goes kaput; and on the same day, my graphics card decided to show some artifacts even in boot up sequence. what a horrendous sight to see. my last card to show artifacts was aeons ago, back in the days of riva tnt days. oh well, time for a new card.

quickly did some research and off i went to simlim square. seems like the card i was looking for was sold out. hunted high and low for it, and gave up. decided to go for xfx gtx260 instead. quantity left isn’t much, so i’d jus grab what i can find.

now the pc is running smoothly again! the card comes with a coupon to download batman:aa via steam. can’t wait to see the game again in full max settings! previously on my old 8800gts, i was running it on near max, except for anti-aliasing at 2x. i believe this time i could get it up to 16xQ!

btw, recently played eagles: hell freezes over dts dvd on my av receiver. the sound is freaking super! even on my not-calibrated-by-professional speakers. shall be looking for more high quality stuffs to stress test the home theatre.
