was kinda tied up with house thingy from furnitures, lightings, simple “house reno”, electricals up to cable/internet choices. can’t wait till the day when everything is in place. days seem to be coming real soon, but it’s also like so far away.
and my jap class.. it has been horrible. last week, i couldn’t understand a single thing sensee was talking about. struggling so far with the homework and due to lack of practice and revision, i seem to be slacking far behind.. =( i have a strong feeling i’m gonna fail my end of term test in 3 weeks time. shucks.

in the creative industry, how often do you (if you’re ever part of it) encounter clients who tend to “be in control” instead of your designers? another rant? think again.
let’s take for example, symbols. there’s a reason for symbols to exist. IT represent. the very core function that probably supercedes textual form of information across all continents in the world.
i have in example of such client while we were given a task to work on some video player for web. given a tight deadline and multiple videos to boot, i’ve taken the easy way out of using adobe’s very own flv player component to link the videos together for the sake of having something to play on the website. guess what’s the feedback from the client’s customers? “the buttons aren’t intuitive enough. idiots won’t know what to do with the buttons.” kindly see the picture on the right to get what i mean.
would you, without any help of textual information able to interpret the meaning of the button with speakers and some waveforms? what about the button with two standing rectangles on the left?
yeap, simple stuffs like this could not be interpreted by some people. and i really wonder, how would they navigate through youtube videos. ’nuff about idiot users. what about agencies who simply listen to their clients? yea, customers are always right, but then again, it’s precisely that they need help with their online marketing which made them look for agencies to solve it for them.
you see, clients seek help in the same way patients seek consultation from doctors.
however increasingly, i’m seeing a trend whereby “patients” are instructing doctors on what to do. even though it doesn’t make sense, senior doctors are telling junior doctors to follow what patient requested. confusing, eh?
wow it’s been days since i’ve last updated.. well anyway, the week past by pretty fast. plenty of work and personal stuffs to take care of.
for the past two weekends, i’ve been going back to jb and tour around for furnitures. seen some really good ones at affordable prices, what more could we ask for? haven’t confirmed which design or getting from which shop yet, but we hope to get everything from a single shop. makes transportation, levy and gst easier to manage.
was down with slight fever, headache and flu yesterday, so the hunt wasn’t at all interesting. just imagine with such a hot weather and driving around. kinda crazy but we managed to find a shop that offers quite a lot of stuffs that we need. let’s see..
fabric L-sofa, coffee table, tv console, dining table with 4 chairs, bookcase and wardrobe. total came up to be RM6500. freebies given were matching pillows with sofa set and a matching foot stool as well.
transportation and levy was absorbed, so we only need pay additional 7% gst. that makes it to be around RM6900, which translates to sgd2.9k for 6 items. everything went well, until the guy that serves us started to hard sell. or so, but the main point was, he started asking us to put down a deposit for the stuffs that we were interested in. well, we started out only to recce around to see what we can find and were quite turned off by the way they pushed sales. ended up walking out from the store, but we definitely could use the pricing as a gauge when we walk into another store next time.
next to look at, switches, lights and electronics!! anyone have good lobangs?? =D
